This “hangover cure” recipe was submitted by one of our early informal taste testers.
Normally, a shot of Power Defender supplement is best taken about 20 minutes before you start drinking so that the detoxifying ingredients are ready in the bloodstream before the alcohol hits your system. This is far easier to do than trying to remember to take something before crashing into bed! But bartenders love to come up with a next day “hangover remedy” from the well known Bloody Mary to the more exotic. Some of these have quite a following. So here’s our entry… Goodbye, katzenjammers! (see our first post, “A hangover by any other name…”)

BARTENDER’S MANGO COCONUT “HANGOVER-CURE”
Why it works
The coconut, mango, and orange juice provide hydration, electrolytes, and vitamins. The Power Defender is formulated with amino acids and DHM to remove toxins like ammonia and acetaldehyde that are behind the worst hangover symptoms. Finally, the 27 vitamins and antioxidants in Power Defender help to restore your body’s balance. Of course, the vodka brings just a bit of the “hair of the dog” while everything else starts to kicks in.
|2 bottles Power Defender||1 mango, peeled, pitted and chopped|
|2 ounces vodka||1 1/2 cups water|
|½ cup mango puree (see below)||½ cup sugar|
|½ cup coconut milk||pinch of salt|
|4 tablespoons orange juice|
Instructions for the Mango Puree:
In a small pan, add the mango, water, sugar, and salt. Saute about 3 minutes and then let cool a minute. Pour the contents of the pan into the jar of a blender and puree until smooth.
Once the Mango Puree is ready:
Fill two glasses with ice cubes and add the vodka in equal parts to each glass.
In a separate pitcher, mix together the mango puree, coconut milk, and shaken bottles of Power Defender and then pour it over the vodka. Top with the orange juice and a squeeze of lime.
